Craig Wilson, who is a columnist for the USA Today, wrote about his 90 year old mother's apple pie in his Final Word column on Thanksgiving eve. She uses store bought crust, but when she works her magic, it is delectable.
My sister called from St. Louis to tell me about Miss Betty, her mother-in-law, making apple pie and the granddaughters who were assisting. Jan swears the pie stood 6" tall.
But it's not about the pie. Even though it is a fabulous result, the heart of the matter lies in creating the tradition, taking the time, sharing the knowledge. Sharing, in general.
That is the heart of the matter. I hope we all find our own "apple pie moments" this holiday!
