Fifty years. Fifty years of living. Fifty years of living, in wedlock, consecutively, with the same spouse. It's a most impressive feat, especially it is accomplished with love, honoring and cherishing.
While Bill & Carolyn didn't renew their vows or have a formal acknowledgment, they did have a big, festive gathering of family and friends.
They love one another, their children, grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild.
It was evident in the slideshow of photos from their beginning of time. It was evident in the tears as we all watched it unfold in a few minutes, laughing, making comments about hairstyles, remembering when.

It seemed to be that the efforts of the birthday dinners, the gradution parties, the family trips, and the times spent together had been worth the energy to make them happen. Those times had woven threads and knitted them together.
I am so thankful that I am learning to knit.
